What the hell is going on here?

I think "Jack" first of all is a "Jack". Second of all, maybe, maybe not the other guy is interested in you. But if he is friends with "Jack" then maybe he will feel that Jack will no longer be friends with him. The other guy needs to stop worrying about Jack and make his move. Show him that you are interested. Send an email.
