How do I set up my home receiver to play music from my computer?

I have a sound blaster card, I have a cable that converts the small stereo out to a left and right RCA... I have plugged those RCA's into my AUX imput on the back of my receiver and I get a real faint signal... that's all distored. Any ideas?
