Can online News sources be sued for libel and slander ?

Blatantly false information comes from printed mail as well as internet based news services does it not? That or printed news that is so biased or has such an emphasis on their own agenda (usually, but not always liberal) that it is no different...is it? negligent news sources are famous for that and are no different than the sites you are discussing.
